Defrag 2013: The Conference of Big Thinkers

Tara Calihman November 06, 2013

Defrag, currently in it’s seventh year, presents itself as an opportunity to accelerate that ‘Aha’ moment and we’re proud to say that we’ve been big fans since the beginning. There has been massive growth in the conference, both in terms of attendees and exhibitors. Thought leaders, influencers and all those looking to change the world were present in Broomfield, Colorado this week, representing companies ranging in size from IBM to the smallish startups making waves in the space.

VictorOps was excited to meet those at the forefront of leading technologies, demo to many interested parties, as well as give our trade show booth an initial run. And we would be lying if we said that getting to try on Google Glass wasn’t high on our list of things to do at this conference.

Our CEO, Todd Vernon, gave a talk about the lessons he’s learned while building the company and researching the DevOps space. He compared his experiences of building a horizontal collaboration platform at one of his earlier companies (Raindance) with the challenges of building a vertical one and explains why he prefers the vertical platform better.

(Answer? It solves real problems for real people.)

If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of collaborative problem-solving, the idea of Continuous Partial Attention or the difficulties inherent in implementing DevOps ideologies, you can see the deck from his presentation below:
