The Failinator: Reducing Alert Fatigue in a Visible Way

Tara Calihman - October 20, 2015

It should go without saying that we love our customers. So what could possibly make us love our customers even more?

How about when they create cool things using our product?

We learned that one of our customers, Say Media, recently had an internal hackathon and built something pretty awesome using VictorOps. They wanted a way to make their alert status more visible and to help incentivize the team to be more diligent about not waking up their colleagues with noisy, un-actionable alerts.

Using a Raspberry Pi, a VictorOps webhook integration, a power converter, a custom board and lots of ingenuity, one hackathon team did just that.

Enter The Failinator.

Watch the video below to see it in all of its glory, but rest assured that with this wonderful invention, you won’t be wondering how many days it’s been since someone was last paged.

Many thanks to Say Media for choosing VictorOps and for informing us of this awesomeness. If you’re doing something cool with our product, don’t hesitate to brag about it. We love hearing stories like this!
